How the fingerprint is worked out
      • Worked out in your browser from the samples shown. Nothing leaves it until you press Save.
      • When the voice is used for edits, X-Ray gets the fingerprint, not the samples.
      • Sentences end at a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark before a capital or a number.
      • Words are runs of text with a letter or digit in them.
      • Spread is the standard deviation of sentence length over its mean.
      • Transition words are openers such as however, moreover, additionally, ultimately, first and also.
      • In Markdown files, headings and code are dropped; bullets, links and emphasis become plain text.
      • Usual lengths are the middle eight in ten of the voice’s sentence lengths.
      • A draft sentence is far outside when it runs a third past the top of that range (and five words past), or under half a bottom of eight or more.
      • A habit is marked when the draft does it clearly more, or clearly less, often than the voice.
      • The example uses the sample article’s paragraphs 2 and 4 and three paragraphs of an anonymised site its detector scored under 0.15. The contrast is the article’s paragraphs 1, 3, 5 and 6.
