Words, certificates and plans
What the free use is, what counts as a checked or rewritten word, what a certificate uses, and what happens when you run out.
Current plans and prices are on Pricing. This page explains what the allowances mean.
Free use
- Without an account: one check, one rewrite (up to 2,000 words) and one site audit (up to 25 pages) a day.
- With a free account: your work is kept, site audits read more pages, and you get a monthly allowance of checked words, rewritten words and certificates to use on the website, the API and the MCP server. Pricing shows the current amounts.
Every plan, free or paid, uses the same detector and the same rewriting. Plans differ only in how much you can use: checked words, rewritten words, certificates, requests a minute and pages per site audit.
Three allowances
Each month you have three separate allowances. Running out of one doesn't stop the others.
Checked words
A word is anything between spaces. When you are signed in or use an API key, these count the words in the text you send:
- the X-Ray and the detector;
- a site audit: the words on the pages it scores;
- scoring a draft in your library.
Scoring a draft again after you accept a suggestion doesn't count, and neither does the X-Ray beside a Humanize rewrite.
Rewritten words
A Humanize rewrite counts the words in the draft you send, once, when it starts: a 1,000-word draft counts 1,000 rewritten words, whatever comes back. Re-rolling one paragraph counts that paragraph's words. The scoring a rewrite does along the way is free.
Certificates
A certificate uses one certificate for each 1,000 words or part of them: a 2,400-word text uses 3. The same goes for the detector's verified mode and the Humanize verified mode, which also send the text to GPTZero and Pangram.
A text those two detectors scored in the last 7 days uses none, because asking again costs nothing.
When your allowance resets
A free account's allowances start again on the first of each month. On a paid plan they start again each time the monthly invoice is paid. Unused words and certificates don't carry over.
Top-ups and certificate packs
- Word top-up: adds checked and rewritten words for the current month only. They end when your allowance resets.
- Certificate pack: adds 20 certificates that last 12 months from the day you buy it. They are used only after the month's included certificates are gone.
When you run out
The website, the API and the MCP server answer with an error (HTTP 402) that names the allowance you've used up and the day it resets, for example: "You've used this month's 250,000 rewritten words. They reset on 1 December, or add a top-up." Your Usage page shows where you stand.
Paying
Payments are handled by Stripe. DropSlop never sees your card number.
